Peterborough Man Caught with Knife and £720 Worth of Cocaine
Jousif Nechirvan, 26, was stopped by police in the early hours of 26 April 2020 while driving a Honda Jazz on Lincoln Road, Peterborough. Officers spotted a knife near the driver’s seat and asked him to step out of the car.
Knife Excuse Falls Flat, Cocaine Bust Nets Big Fine
Nechirvan claimed the knife was for cooking barbecues, but a search revealed a plastic tub behind the driver’s seat holding 24 wraps of cocaine valued at up to £720. The 26-year-old, from Redgate Court, Peterborough, bizarrely said he used the drugs to treat dizziness.
Three-Year Jail Sentence for Drug Dealing
Nechirvan later admitted possession of a knife in a public place and possession with intent to supply cocaine. On Thursday 24 February, he was handed a three-year prison sentence at Cambridge Crown Court.
Detective Sergeant Matt Lauch said: “These substances cause havoc with the lives of people trapped in addiction. Drug dealing can also cause significant issues for our communities, with links to anti-social behaviour and violence.”
