Maidstone Cadets Plant Over 100 Trees for Queen’s Green Canopy
Maidstone’s young heroes have been swapping their free time for shovels to help The Queen’s Green Canopy project. This nationwide effort aims to create a living network of trees, copses, and woodlands across the UK.
Green Thumbs at Work in Southons Field
On Saturday 5 March, a spirited bunch of cadets planted more than 100 trees, including Rowan, Cherry, Hawthorn, and Crab Apple, in Southons Field. Their hard graft is set to leave a leafy legacy for generations to come.
Cadet Boss Praises Young Eco-Warriors
“These young cadets have all worked very hard to play their part in creating a green legacy for future generations to enjoy in Marden. They should be very proud of their efforts,” said Assistant Cadet Manager Anne-Marie Moore.
“The local parish council also greatly appreciated their tenacity and enthusiasm and have invited the cadets back next year to review their hard work.”
About the Volunteer Police Cadets
The Volunteer Police Cadets, supported by Kent Police, is a uniformed group for 13 to 17-year-olds. The cadets meet weekly during term time for two to three hours and volunteer an extra three hours monthly on community projects—like this tree-planting mission.
