A well-known musician was attacked and racially abused as he entered a nightclub in Aberystwyth, sparking a police investigation.

CCTV Hunt for Racist Attacker

Dyfed-Powys Police have released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to after the incident at Pier Pressure nightclub on the Aberystwyth pier.

The assault happened at around 2am on Sunday, 3 April 2022. Officers say the man slapped the 59-year-old victim on the back of the head and directed racist language towards him.

Musician Mr Pleasure Speaks Out

Mr Pleasure, a composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, lives in Aberystwyth with his partner, Kedma Macias. She revealed they arrived at the club around 1:30am and the attack happened shortly after.

“As a black man from America, he’s experienced racism all the time – he’s 59, from living in the south he’s grown up with that, but never experienced anything like this in Aberystwyth,” Ms Macias said.

Mr Pleasure left Pier Pressure just five minutes after the shocking encounter.

Local Community Shocked

The musician has faced racism before in the US, but this is the first time in Aberystwyth.

Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward as the investigation continues.
