Massive Folkestone Road Blitz: 36 Vehicles Snagged
On the afternoon of Friday, January 20, 2023, police stopped 36 vehicles across Cheriton Road, Tram Road, and Sandgate Hill in a sweeping crackdown on dangerous driving.
Seatbelt Sinners, Speeders & Texting Drivers Targeted
- Seven drivers caught without seatbelts
- Several reported for texting while driving and speeding
- One uninsured car seized, driver reported
Folkestone Community Policing Team, town centre cops, and Kent Special Constabulary joined forces to target offenders and keep roads safe.
Drug-Driving Arrest & Cannabis Warnings
Two vehicles were searched for drugs during the blitz. An 18-year-old man from Folkestone was arrested on suspicion of drug-driving on Tram Road. He’s been bailed until April 20 as investigations continue.
Additionally, two others were handed community resolutions after being caught with cannabis.
Road Safety Education at Heart of Operation
Alongside penalties, 23 motorists received advice on vehicle maintenance and safe driving.
“The work was aimed at educating road users and promoting safer driving across the town,” said Folkestone Sgt Kevin Marsh.
“We are committed to making our roads as safe as possible. Operations like this remind everyone to keep their vehicles roadworthy and fully focused when behind the wheel.”
