Serious Crash Shuts Down Dorchester Bypass
Dorset Police were called at 5.10pm on Tuesday 26 April 2022 following a nasty collision on the A37 Dorchester bypass near Monkeys Jump roundabout.
Two Cars Collide: Multiple Injuries Reported
A silver Vauxhall Meriva and a red Land Rover smashed together. The Vauxhall’s driver, a man in his 60s from Portland, was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. Two passengers in the Vauxhall were also rushed to hospital for treatment.
The Land Rover carried a woman in her 40s and three children, all of whom were taken by ambulance to Dorset County Hospital.
Road Closed as Emergency Services Tackle Incident
The A37 is currently closed between Weirs roundabout and Monkeys Jump roundabout. Emergency crews are working on the scene and police ask the public to be patient while the area remains shut.
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Dashcam Footage
PC Mark Burton of Dorset Police’s traffic unit said: “We are continuing to make enquiries to establish the full circumstances of this collision. I urge anyone who witnessed the crash or who has dashcam footage from the area at the time to come forward.
“Thank you to the public for your patience during road closures, which allow us to safely investigate the scene.”
