Stalker Jailed for Terrorising Woman Over Mistaken Identity
Man Haunts Woman’s Home Six Times
Darren Hodgkinson, 53, from Wisbech, went on a relentless harassment spree after wrongly thinking a local woman was a prison guard he knew called Jackie.
Between 10 December 2021 and 4 January 2022, Hodgkinson showed up at the woman’s Park Avenue home six times — even after being told he had the wrong house and to stay away.
Disturbing Tactics: Notes from Rubbish Bin
Hodgkinson didn’t stop there. He rummaged through the victim’s bin to grab cardboard, scribbled notes on it, and shoved them through her letterbox. The unwanted visits and notes left the woman fearing for her safety.
Arrest and Court Battle
Police were called on 4 January, and Hodgkinson was arrested at the scene. In custody, he claimed he was just trying to apologise for the mix-up — but the court wasn’t convinced.
On 29 March, Hodgkinson admitted stalking at Peterborough Crown Court. He was slapped with a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence and slapped with an indefinite restraining order to keep him away from his victim.
DC Jon Edwards said: “Hodgkinson continued to turn up at the victim’s home, despite being told numerous times not to come. His behaviour was frightening and caused her to change their daily lifestyle.
“I hope the conclusion of the court process will help her to move on with life without this harassment.
“We’re dedicated to helping victims of stalking and domestic abuse and I’d encourage anyone who has been subjected to offences like this to come forward.”
