Body Found in Poole Harbour Believed to Be Missing Man David Haw
Dorset Police recovered a body from Poole Harbour at 1.37pm on Saturday, 14 May 2022. While formal identification is pending, the body is believed to be that of 24-year-old David Haw from Sussex. His family have been informed and the coroner notified.
David Went Missing After Falling From Boat
Just days earlier, at 1.59am on Monday, 2 May, Dorset Police were alerted that David had fallen from a rigid inflatable boat (RIB) in Poole Harbour. This sparked an extensive search operation.
Massive Search Effort Launches From Police and Rescue Teams
The search involved Dorset Police, HM Coastguard, the RNLI, and volunteers from DorSAR and Wessex Flood and Water Rescue Unit. Despite days of thorough searches, David remained missing until the grim discovery last weekend.
Investigation Underway as Police Probe Circumstances
Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) is leading an ongoing investigation. A 19-year-old man from Southampton arrested on suspicion of manslaughter has been released under investigation.
