Chaos at Birmingham Sainsbury’s as Shoppers Fall Ill
Two women rushed to hospital and several others treated after a mysterious respiratory scare hit a Birmingham supermarket this morning.
Emergency Services Swiftly Respond
At 9.53am, West Midlands Ambulance Service sprang into action at Sainsbury’s on Longbridge Lane. The response included two ambulances, the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), three paramedic officers, and the West Midlands CARE Team. Police and fire crews also scrambled to the scene.
Evacuation and Treatment Underway
The entire supermarket and nearby buildings were swiftly evacuated after multiple people reported respiratory problems. Seven patients were assessed on site. Two women received treatment immediately and were taken in stable condition to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further checks. The other five were treated and discharged at the scene.
A number of others, while worried, were deemed well and given advice on the spot.
Investigation Continues
