Seized Range Rover Evoque Up for Auction – Crime Doesn’t Pay!
A slick Range Rover Evoque with low mileage and in tip-top condition is about to hit the auction block – all proceeds will support worthy causes across West Yorkshire.
From Criminal’s Ride to Charity Cash
This eye-catching motor once belonged to a local crook, sentenced to five years behind bars. West Yorkshire Police seized the car under the Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA). Today, the Kirklees District Crime Team paraded it outside Huddersfield Police Station as a stark warning: crime doesn’t pay.
Warning Against Criminal Glamour
The police plastered the vehicle with posters cautioning that flashy cars can lure vulnerable youngsters into a life of crime. Detective Chief Inspector Diane Johnson explained:
“The point of this is to make people stop, look and then think – are they or their child at risk from criminal exploitation? Do they have an image of criminals driving expensive cars and wearing designer clothes? Do they think, ‘that’s the life for me’?”
She added:
“By displaying this car prominently, we hope to burst that bubble. The harsh reality? Criminals’ lives are very different – just look at this seized vehicle now being sold off.”
Community Help Needed to Combat Crime
Through Programme Precision, the force works with partners to take down serious organised crime. Detective Johnson urges anyone with information on illegal activity to step forward.
