Tragic Early Morning Blaze Claims Two Lives in Cumbria Village

Firefighters and police rushed to a devastating blaze at Toll Bar Houses in Distington just before 5am. A 58-year-old man and a 14-year-old girl, both locals, were found dead at the scene, police confirmed.

Neighbours Evacuated, No Other Casualties

Nearby homes were quickly evacuated as flames spread, but thankfully no other injuries were reported. Emergency crews continue to battle the fire.

Road Closures Cause Chaos for Motorists

Authorities are urging drivers to steer clear of the area. Key routes remain shut, including:

  • A595 southbound – between the Dobies dealership roundabout and Howgate roundabout
  • A597 – from the Toyota dealership roundabout to Hallywood Road junction

Emergency services are still investigating the cause of the blaze.
