Sex pest caught flashing teenage girls in East Grinstead
Man exposed himself to four girls
Monuzar Hussain Hamza, 34, a stock taker with no fixed address, followed four teenage girls aged 14 and 15 along Moat Road, East Grinstead, at around 3pm on Valentine’s Day.
He whistled to get their attention, then shocked the youngsters by exposing himself and acting indecently. The girls shouted back in horror, making Hamza flee the scene and return to a nearby hotel.
Swift police action leads to arrest
The incident was quickly reported to police. After house-to-house inquiries and CCTV checks, Hamza was tracked down and arrested within 48 hours. He initially denied the charges but changed his plea to guilty once faced with overwhelming evidence.
Jail sentence and sex offender registration
At Brighton Magistrates’ Court on 14 April, Hamza was sentenced to 26 weeks behind bars and ordered to pay £442 in costs. He was also placed on the sex offenders register for seven years.
Detective lauds brave victims
Detective Constable Paul Hudson said: “I’d like to commend the young girls in this case who were quick to report the incident and provide evidence to secure a conviction against Hamza. His actions were completely unacceptable and this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated – this is reflected by the immediate custodial sentence handed out by magistrates.”
Hamza will be closely monitored by a specialist team upon release to prevent reoffending.
