Key Lanes Closed, Traffic Jam Builds

Two lanes used in Operation Brock for holding lorries heading to the Port of Dover are shut. The incident happened around 4am and the road remains closed hours later. HGVs are backed up on surrounding routes including the A249 at Stockbury roundabout near M2 Junction 5, and the A20 as drivers scramble for alternative routes.

Cleanup Underway, No Clear Reopening Time

National Highways confirmed recovery work is ongoing with a clean-up expected to finish by 9am. However, due to the complex nature of the recovery, no reopening time has been given yet.

Drivers are urgently advised to follow the ‘solid square’ diversion signs to avoid getting stuck in the gridlock.
