Firefighters Race to Foil Blaze at Sheffield Uni Lab

Crews from Central, Parkway, Rivelin, and Rotherham swung into action last night to tackle a blaze at the University of Sheffield’s Centre for Nano Science & Technology.

Flames Snuffed Out Fast

The alarm was raised at 6.11pm on Monday 28 October. Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus stormed inside and had the fire under control by 7.25pm, containing it to the room where it started.

Crew Checks for Hazardous Chemicals

Specialist officers then went back in to check the atmosphere for dangerous chemicals, ensuring the building was safe to re-enter.

No Injuries, Likely Accident

Fortunately, no one was hurt. Early reports suggest the fire was accidental.
