Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust has declared a critical incident at Queen Alexandra Hospital due to extreme pressure on its services.
Life-Threatening Cases Only, Say Hospital Chiefs
A spokeswoman said: “We have a limited amount of space to treat patients with life-threatening illnesses and injuries.”
She urged the local community to help by getting patients home quickly and only using the emergency department for genuine life-threatening emergencies.
