Paedophile Joe Lloyd Jailed for Nine Years After Horrific Abuse

Joe Lloyd, 29, has been locked up for nine years after a brutal eight-year campaign of sexual attacks on a boy between 2004 and 2012. The abuse turned more serious over time, including multiple rapes.

Offences Uncovered Years Later

The vile crimes only came to light when the victim reported the assaults to police in May 2017. Lloyd was arrested that same month. Specialist detectives from the Adult Sexual Assault Investigation Team (ASAIT) took charge of the case.

Lloyd pleaded not guilty, but after a lengthy investigation and trial at Basildon Crown Court, he was convicted on 19 counts of rape and five of sexual assault on 18 February.

Justice Served – Life on Sex Offenders’ Register

At Basildon Crown Court on 25 February, Lloyd, from Ullswater Road, London, SE27, was sentenced to nine years behind bars and handed a lifetime spot on the Sex Offenders’ Register.

“Joe Lloyd subjected his victim to years of repeated abuse,” said Police Constable Karen Smale from ASAIT.

“He paid little regard for his victim’s welfare, instead manipulated them for his own sexual gratification.”

“This investigation has involved years of painstaking detective work to secure this conviction and sentencing and I want to thank the victim for their support.

“They have shown incredible courage, firstly to come forward and report what happened and then to have to re-live the ordeal through a trial.

“No sentence can reverse the past but I hope this goes some way to help them move forward. I hope this sentence shows that it’s never too late to get justice and I would urge any other victims of sexual abuse to come forward and report it to us.”
