Emergency Called to Coastal Crisis
Last night at around 9.30pm IST, chaos erupted at Fanore Beach when two swimmers got into trouble in the water.
Helicopter Rescue and Lifeboat Teams Mobilised
One swimmer managed to reach shore safely, but the other was left stranded at sea. The Irish Coast Guard’s Rescue 115 helicopter scrambled from Shannon, joined by the Doolin Coast Guard and Aran Islands RNLI lifeboats to mount a desperate rescue operation.

The distressed man was airlifted to Galway University Hospital. Tragically, he was later pronounced dead, cutting short what should have been a summer night by the sea.
