Detectives investigating a vicious assault on an innocent woman during the Notting Hill Carnival have released footage of the incident as they appeal for witnesses and information.* At around 7.05pm on Monday, 29 August two groups of men engaged in a violent fight in Ladbroke Grove. As the violence erupted, a 19-year-old woman who was standing on Ladbroke Grove was the victim of a completely unprovoked attack by some of the men involved in the fight. She was struck in the head with a gas canister and then kicked and punched to the ground. The men fled in both opposite directions down Ladbroke Grove. *Detective Constable Sam Packer who is investigating the incident said: *”The victim was left very seriously injured in hospital following this incident – although she has been discharged she continues to need treatment for the injuries she sustained. “She is a completely innocent member of the public who was attacked without provocation or warning by people who were intent on causing violence. “If you were there and saw what happened, or have footage that could help us identify those responsible, please do the right thing and contact us immediately.” Detectives have released footage of part of the incident and want to hear from anyone who saw it, or also captured video of it, to contact police ref via 101 or Tweet @MetCC ref CAD 3472/30 Aug.
