Two Drug Dealers Nabbed After Police Raid at Thorpe Meadows Hotel
Kamran Tahir, 23, and Adil Pervez, 30, were caught red-handed at the Dragonfly Hotel in Thorpe Meadows on 5 December 2020. What started as a routine room order quickly spiralled into a full-blown drug bust.
Staff Find Suspicious White Powder in Hotel Room
Tahir had gone down to reception to place an order. When staff delivered it to his room, no one answered the door. They let themselves in and discovered a set of scales plus small bags filled with white powder on the desk.
Police were called and arrived just before Tahir and Pervez returned.
Cash, Cocaine, and Mobile Phones Seized
- Pervez was caught carrying £316.50 in cash and two mobile phones. He lied about his identity to officers.
- A strip search at custody uncovered an extra £310 concealed on Pervez.
- Tahir had a small amount of cocaine, £50 cash, three mobile phones, and a hotel key card linked to a room with 25 wraps of cocaine worth up to £1,250 inside a cigarette packet.
Further Raids Uncover More Drugs and Paraphernalia
Police searched Pervez’s home in Ledbury Road, Netherton, finding:
- A mobile phone
- 29 used zip-lock bags with cocaine residue
- Almost 30g of benzocaine – often used to dilute cocaine, though not illegal
At Tahir’s nearby home, officers discovered:
- A small stash of cannabis and paraphernalia
- Two more mobile phones
- A cigarette packet with two wraps of cocaine and a small amount of cannabis found in Tahir’s car
Charged and Sentenced: Jail Time Ahead
Initially released under investigation, they were later charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine. Tahir also faced charges for cannabis possession.
Pervez had already been sentenced to three years and 11 months for previous drug offences following a major drug haul from his home last March, where heroin, cocaine, and cannabis worth thousands were found.
On Friday 28 October, Peterborough Crown Court handed down verdicts:
- Tahir: Two years and four months in prison
- Pervez: Two years and ten months, to run alongside his existing sentence
“The consumption of drugs not only brings harm to individuals, but the related crime, violence and anti-social behaviour brings misery to our communities,” said Detective Constable Mark Clapham. “It is a priority for the force to disrupt those who think it is okay to sell drugs in Cambridgeshire.”
