Forensic Teams Hunt Clues in Welling Murder Probe

Forensic officers spent Monday morning combing the drains at a Welling home on Axminster Crescent. The painstaking search is part of a murder investigation into the disappearance of 54-year-old Nazire Koreli.

The search follows a dramatic police raid late Sunday night when a 50-year-old man, believed to be Koreli’s partner, was arrested on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody as detectives dig deeper into the case.

Armed Police Storm Quiet Suburb

Neighbours were stunned as armed officers smashed down the front door shortly after 11pm.

“We heard a huge bang when the door came down,” said one local. “Then the flashing police lights flooded the street. It was a real shock — this is usually such a quiet area.”

Outside the semi-detached property, a blue forensic tent and portable toilet were set up. Officers removed the doorbell camera as potential evidence. Forensic experts in white suits searched the premises piece by piece, with a new focus on the drains and surrounding grounds.

Community Stunned as Investigation Intensifies

Locals are still reeling from the shock. One resident revealed recent soil and building material movement outside the house, now a key part of police inquiries.

“This is a lovely road where we all know each other. Nazire used to walk her dog here almost every day — she was a kind, friendly woman,” the neighbour recalled.

Many are grappling with the scale of police activity and what might emerge from the exhaustive forensic work.

Police Hunt for Answers in Nazire Koreli Disappearance

The Metropolitan Police confirmed the missing persons case is now a suspected murder inquiry. Koreli was reported missing on February 28 but hasn’t been seen since September 2024.

Detectives are calling on anyone with sightings or information about Koreli’s movements between September 2024 and February 2025 to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said:

“We’re working hard to build a timeline and understand exactly what happened to Nazire. Anyone who saw or had contact with her during this time must get in touch immediately.”
