Drug Dealer Busted Twice in Tamworth – Jailed for Nearly Four Years
Tanashi Sam, 39, from Smethwick, West Midlands, has been slammed with a hefty 3 years and 9 months in jail at Stafford Crown Court. The sentence came after he admitted possession with intent to supply both crack cocaine and heroin – twice – along with being involved in their supply.
Police Spot Sam’s Shady Moves in Tamworth
It all began on 2 February last year when officers spotted suspicious activity on Ellerbeck in Tamworth. Sam was seen lurking in the area but when cops approached, he made a run for it down a nearby cycle track. He tried tossing packages into hedges to ditch the evidence, but police caught it all.
- Drugs seized included heroin, crack cocaine, and cannabis
- Officers also confiscated a mobile phone and £135 cash
- Sam was arrested, interviewed, and released under investigation
Sam Caught Red-Handed Again
A few months later, on 7 October, police again spotted Sam in Tamworth. This time, when approached, he bolted and tried to chuck another drug stash. Officers recovered 34 grams of heroin and 59 crack cocaine deals, valuing about £635.
- Arrest made on the spot
- Further mobile phone and £154 cash recovered
- Sam later charged with offences from both incidents
Judge Sends Clear Warning
Detective Sergeant Jon Bradbury said: “Sam tried to escape officers twice and made efforts to hide his criminality in order to avoid punishment. I’m pleased these substances have been taken off our streets and another offender has been rightfully put behind bars.”
Sam’s jail time sends a clear message to drug dealers: police are watching, and the consequences are serious.
