A top Hampshire paediatrician, who dedicated years to helping families across the South, has been found dead after a desperate search in Winchester.

Body Found After Dr Peter Betts Vanishes

The body of a man was discovered during the search for Dr Peter Betts, 76, who went missing from his Winchester home around midday on Monday, October 14. Formal identification is pending, but next of kin have been informed.

Police Rule Out Suspicious Circumstances

Officers say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death. A file is being prepared for the Coroner. Authorities have thanked the public for their support and for sharing appeals during the search.

Community Plea Went Unanswered

Earlier on Monday, police urged the public to help find Dr Betts, who was last seen in the Compton Down area of Winchester wearing a dark woolly jumper, checked shirt, and pale brown denim jeans. The 5ft 11in doctor’s disappearance was very out of character, sparking serious concern for his welfare.
