Kent Test Results Out Today: What Families Need to Know
Pupils who took the Kent Test last month get their results today, Tuesday 18 October. Families who registered online will receive an email from Kent County Council after 4pm with their child’s assessment outcome. Online access to results and scores opens from 5pm.
Beware: due to the huge volume, some emails might hit delays. If you didn’t provide a valid email, your results will arrive by first-class post.
Thousands Sat the Test – Many Set for Grammar School
This year, 17,049 children sat the Kent Test. Of these, 11,532 live in Kent, with the rest coming from neighbouring areas. Out of Kent residents, 5,147 passed the assessment and are suitable to apply for grammar school places.
Shellina Prendergast, Kent County Council’s Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “This is a significant day for all pupils who sat the Kent Test this year. Kent has a rich and diverse mix of high-quality selective and non-selective schools, so I urge families whose child didn’t get the results they hoped for not to worry. Look carefully at all options before applying for a secondary school place.”
Secondary School Applications Now Open – Deadline Looms
- Applications for Kent secondary schools are open now.
- Deadline to apply is Monday 31 October 2022.
- Passing the Kent Test doesn’t guarantee a grammar school place – it just means your child can be considered.
- Final offers depend on each school’s admissions criteria.
- Use all four school choices on the Secondary Common Application Form (SCAF) to maximise your chances.
Priority admission is expected for Kent children deemed suitable for grammar schools, with 5,566 grammar places available. However, most pupils will secure places within their own local authority.
How the Kent Test Process Works – And What’s Next
There’s also a Head Teacher Assessment (HTA) Panel for kids who didn’t meet the test threshold. Primary schools can refer these pupils for a review based on school work and writing tasks, ensuring no one misses out unfairly.
Christine McInnes, Kent County Council’s Director of Education, said: “Thanks to all staff who worked hard to make the Kent Test and HTA Panel process run smoothly.”
