Leamington Shoplifter Caught Red-Handed and Jailed

Ryan Guy, 25, from Kenilworth Road, Leamington, has been locked up after admitting nine counts of theft. Warwickshire Magistrates’ Court handed him a 27-week prison sentence today (Wednesday 15 November).

Nine Thefts in Just Ten Days

The theft spree took place at a shop on The Parade between 4-14 November. After the store spotted Guy as a suspect in eight incidents, police moved quickly.

Officers tried to arrest Guy at home but he wasn’t there. They then alerted town CCTV operators who spotted him heading back into the same shop. The Leamington Safer Neighbourhood Team swooped and found him clutching six bottles of 1 and one bottle of vodka he had just nicked.

“We welcome the prison sentence handed to Guy. This is a good example of how we’re working with businesses to identify shoplifters and bring them to justice,” said PC Barney Tandy from the Patrol Investigation Unit.
