A second man from inside a flat handed himself into police just before 6pm and was arrested. This followed an earlier surrender by another man earlier in the day.

No one else was found in the flat, and thankfully, no one was injured.

Police Praise Community Amid Firearms Probe

Detective Chief Superintendent Dee Perkins said: “This has already been a long and challenging operation. Alongside our partners, our officers and staff will continue their hard work as we now enter the recovery phase.”

She added: “Any incident involving firearms is deeply concerning. Our detectives are thoroughly investigating what happened.”

Support and Reassurance for Local Residents

Dee Perkins thanked the people of Bury and the wider community for their “ongoing support, patience and resilience.”

“I know these events have caused distress. I urge anyone affected to reach out to appropriate support agencies,” she said.

Police will maintain a visible presence in the area in the coming days to offer reassurance. Officers encourage anyone with information or concerns to come forward.
