Belvedere Drug Dealer Bags Over Four Years Behind Bars

A 21-year-old Belvedere man has been locked up for over four years after a six-month crackdown on a Medway drug network. Joseph O’Leary of Morvale Close pleaded guilty to two charges of dealing class A drugs from March to October 2019.

Drugs, DNA and Cash: Medway Police Crack the Case

O’Leary’s drug empire was exposed after cops seized 50 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin in Chatham in March 2019. Forensic tests found his full DNA on the drug packaging, tying him directly to the stash.

Further raids in July uncovered 200 more wraps, piles of cash, and a mobile phone. Call data from the phone linked O’Leary to the drugs, which carried a street value of up to £5,000.

Arrest and Conviction: Medway CID Pile on the Pressure

O’Leary was arrested on 8 October following a car stop in Rochester. Police also seized another phone and £640 cash. Analysis again confirmed his involvement in drug dealing.

“Joseph O’Leary was orchestrating various drug dealing in Medway and we were able to gather irrefutable evidence to ensure a successful conviction,” said Detective Constable Mark Donovan.

“This was a complex investigation where officers worked tirelessly to prove the links between O’Leary and the drug trade in this area. We will continue to relentlessly target dealers, disrupt their activity and bring them to justice.”
