Teen Jailed for Spate of Car Thefts in Gillingham
An 18-year-old vandals and fraudster has been locked up after a week-long crime spree targeting vehicles in Gillingham. Rawand Khshman hit cars under cover of darkness, making off with cash and bank cards from multiple streets across the town.
Car Break-Ins and Fraudulent Purchases
Between October 15 and 22, Khshman struck cars parked on Brasenose Road, Franklin Road, Beresford Road, and Wigmore Road. He stole valuables, including bank cards, then used them to make bogus purchases in local shops.
Justice Served in Medway Magistrates’ Court
Khshman, of Cleave Road, was arrested on November 23 and charged with six counts of theft, three of criminal damage, and four fraud offences. The teen appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court a day later, pleading guilty to all charges.
He was sentenced to one year behind bars and ordered to pay £900 in compensation to his victims.
Cops Praise Sentence for ‘Prolific Thief’
“This teenager is a prolific thief who targeted cars in Gillingham, stealing anything of value left inside,” said PC Sophie Cordwell.
“His crimes caused worry amongst residents and cost victims money to fix broken windows. Jail time for this young man is justified.”
