Detectives Appeal for Witnesses in Islington Double Murder Investigation – UKNIP

Detectives investigating a tragic double murder in Islington are urging witnesses to come forward as they continue their investigation into the shocking incident. The appeal for information comes as the authorities work tirelessly to uncover the truth behind the heinous crime.

Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood expressed the urgency of the matter, stating, “We’re three days into our investigation, and while inquiries are ongoing, I still need to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of Elthorne Road on Thursday night. Two people have lost their lives through an act of violence, and it is vital that we get the answers their families so desperately need.”

The incident occurred on Thursday, June 29, when police were alerted to a stabbing incident on Elthorne Road, N19, at approximately 11.33pm. Upon arrival, officers found a 15-year-old boy, identified as Leonardo Reid from Islington, with stab wounds. Despite the efforts of medical staff and paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, he tragically succumbed to his injuries shortly after midnight.

During the investigation, it was discovered that another victim, a 23-year-old man, had also suffered stab injuries. He was taken to a West London hospital but was pronounced dead. The next of kin for both victims have been notified and are receiving support from specially trained officers.

Post-mortem examinations have revealed that the provisional cause of death for both victims was a stab wound to the chest. Additionally, a third victim believed to be 28 years old, was found at an address in N19 with a stab wound. He is currently receiving treatment at a north London hospital, and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The Specialist Crime Command, along with colleagues from the Central North Command Unit, is leading the investigation. A 46-year-old man, identified as [A], was arrested on Saturday, July 1, on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. However, he was subsequently released with no further action.

Detective Chief Inspector Eastwood appealed to the public, saying, “I know that there are people who are yet to come forward. I would ask that you consider the feelings of those whose lives have been impacted by these senseless murders and make contact with us.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to call 101 or contact @MetCC on Twitter, quoting reference CAD 9383/29Jun. Alternatively, individuals can provide information anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
