Beloved Period Drama Sanditon Returns for its Final Season on ITVX – UKNIP

The highly anticipated third and final series of the captivating period drama Sanditon is set to premiere on ITVX on August 3, 2023. Produced by Red Planet Pictures, the show has enchanted audiences worldwide with its charm, romance, intriguing storylines, and delightful humor. Fans will be taken on one last journey to the picturesque coastal resort inhabited by beloved characters who have captured the hearts of viewers.

Based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel, the sumptuous drama series has been a feast for television audiences. In the United States, it ranked as the third most-watched program of the season on Masterpiece, attracting 4.8 million viewers. The fan favorite has been streamed over 4.1 million times between March 19 and May 13, 2023, a 10% increase from the previous series. The global appeal of Sanditon has led to its distribution in over 190 territories, including Japan, Norway, Brazil, Australia, Spain, and Israel.

Rose Williams, who portrays the beloved heroine Charlotte Heywood, expressed her excitement about the third and final chapter reaching the UK audience. Williams shared her anticipation for viewers to meet the new and brilliant characters in Season 3, while also witnessing the conclusion of the adventures of Sanditon’s original inhabitants. Playing Charlotte Heywood has been a true gift, according to Williams.

The final series of Sanditon introduces captivating new characters who will bring drama, romance, laughter, and scandal to the sunny seaside town. Among them is Lady Montrose, portrayed by Emma Fielding, a quintessential Austen mother who arrives in Sanditon with the sole mission of finding suitable matches for her children, Lydia and Henry. Alice Orr-Ewing takes on the role of Lydia, an independent young woman not as eager for a match as her mother desires. Edward Davis portrays the charismatic and confident Lord Henry Montrose, who harbors a secret. James Bolam brings to life Rowleigh Pryce, a wealthy and curmudgeonly investor who joins forces with Tom Parker (played by Kris Marshall) for the town’s expansion, leading to complications when he encounters the formidable Lady Denham, portrayed by Anne Reid. Liam Garrigan joins the cast as Samuel Colbourne, Alexander’s brother, a lawyer and charming bachelor who leaves a lasting impression on Lady Susan, played by Sophie Winkleman.

In this final series, Charlotte Heywood returns to Sanditon with her fiancé, confronting her unresolved feelings for Alexander Colbourne. Meanwhile, Georgiana, portrayed by Crystal Clarke, is faced with a claim on her newfound inheritance and fights in court alongside Samuel Colbourne to retain what is rightfully hers. Additionally, the reformed Edward, played by Jack Fox, promises Lady Denham that he has truly changed, but the allure of Augusta Markham’s fortune poses a tempting proposition.

With weddings, failed engagements, and the search for true love and happiness, the residents of Sanditon embark on a remarkable journey of self-discovery and romance.

The adaptation of Jane Austen’s 11-chapter fragment was brought to life by Emmy award-winning screenwriter Andrew Davies and produced by Red Planet Pictures. The show took its own direction, with Justin Young serving as the lead writer and executive producer for series 2 and 3.

Belinda Campbell, Executive Producer for Red Planet Pictures, eagerly awaits the UK audience’s response to the final season and the conclusion of the characters’ stories in Sanditon.
