Teen Tragically Killed in Solo Pitsea Flyover Crash
Emergency crews rushed to the Pitsea flyover just before 2:30pm on Saturday, 1 July, after reports of a serious single-vehicle collision.
Sadly, an 18-year-old passenger in the car, Ellie Jo Evers from Benfleet, died at the scene.
Family Mourns ‘Vibrant’ Ellie Jo
Ellie Jo’s family released a heartfelt statement: “Ellie Jo is a much-loved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece and cousin.
“She was a fun-loving, vibrant teenager with many friends who has been taken from us all too soon.
“Her tragic passing has left all of us heartbroken. We would like to express our thanks for the kind words and support we continue to receive.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses
Detective Sergeant Sam Nason from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit urged anyone with information to come forward.
“Our thoughts remain with the family of Ellie Jo, who now need time and space to grieve and attempt to come to terms with their loss. We continue to offer support to them throughout this process.”
