A nine-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a collision on King Cross Street in Halifax has tragically passed away. The incident occurred on Saturday, July 8, when a Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) on patrol came across the collision at 11:09 am.

The girl was crossing the road on a pedestrian crossing near the junction with Park Road, accompanied by an adult, when she was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Corsa. The driver of the Corsa, a 53-year-old man, was subsequently arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail.

In a statement, a spokesperson from the police said, “We can confirm that a nine-year-old girl who was seriously injured in a collision in Halifax on Saturday has now died. We would ask that people are respectful of the family’s privacy at this exceptionally difficult time.”

The police are urging any witnesses to come forward and provide information about the collision. They are particularly interested in hearing from individuals who may have seen the incident, which occurred shortly after 11 am on King Cross Street.
