Boots has revealed the locations of the initial batch of stores that will be closing as part of its plan to shut down 300 sites across the country in the next 12 months. Last month, Boots announced its intention to reduce its portfolio from 2,200 to 1,900 sites.
The stores slated for closure are reportedly those in close proximity to other existing sites. Despite the closures, Boots stated that no redundancies are planned, and affected workers will be offered redeployment opportunities.
The company’s decision to evolve its store estate aims to concentrate team members where they are most needed and focus investment on individual stores to consistently deliver excellent service in a modern environment.
According to iNews, the first seven Boots stores scheduled for closure have been confirmed. The closures will take place over the next 12 months, with the first one happening later this month.
The seven Boots stores set to close are as follows:
- Heathside Road, Woking (end of July)
- UEA campus (end of July)
- Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff-on-Sea (1 August)
- Windhill Road, Wakefield (6 October)
- Upper Warrengate, Wakefield (7 October)
- Glastonbury (13 October)
- Guildford Road, Woking (end of October)
Boots reassured that all team members from these stores will be offered alternative roles as part of the company’s store consolidation program.
The closure of these stores marks the beginning of Boots’ efforts to optimize its store network and adapt to changing consumer habits and preferences.
