Drama Off Isle of Wight: Med Evac from Cruise Ship Queen Victoria

The Coastguard Rescue 175 helicopter swooped in for a daring medical evacuation from the Cunard cruise liner Queen Victoria on Sunday, August 6th. The ship was cruising off the Isle of Wight’s coast when emergency struck.

Southampton to Stavanger Voyage Interrupted

The Queen Victoria had just left Southampton harbour that evening, heading for Stavanger, Norway, when the call for help came in.

Rapid Response from Solent Coastguard

At around 8:50 pm, the Coastguard’s Rescue 175 helicopter launched from Solent. The chopper raced to the ship, found south of Angmering, West Sussex, to retrieve the patient.

Patient Airlifted to Safety and Treatment

The casualty was airlifted to the Isle of Wight, where medics and coastguard personnel took over. They rushed the patient to St Mary’s Hospital for urgent treatment.
