Drugs Stashed in Baby Clothes Spark Two Arrests on M1
Police made a bizarre and shocking discovery when they pulled over a car on the A38 near Junction 28 of the M1 yesterday evening. Officers from Nottinghamshire Police’s Road Crime Team found thousands of pounds worth of suspected heroin hidden inside a piece of baby clothing.
Smell of Cannabis Tips Off Officers
At around 6.40pm on Tuesday 13 December, officers spotted a strong smell of cannabis coming from the vehicle. A search revealed the Class A drugs wrapped inside a baby grow tucked away in the boot – a sneaky attempt to smuggle narcotics.
Two Arrested After Shocking Discovery
- A 48-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were arrested for possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
- Police also found a crack pipe and an empty cannabis bag on the man during the search.
“This was an excellent piece of police work by the officers on patrol yesterday evening which has allowed us to recover large quantities of suspected Class A drugs,” said Detective Inspector Simon Harrison.
“I am pleased these two suspects have been arrested and our investigation continues. As a force, we continue to work hard every day to catch drug dealers, place them before the courts and seize and destroy the drugs they try to peddle to vulnerable people in our communities.”
The investigation is ongoing as Nottinghamshire Police crack down on drug trafficking in the region.
