Woman Sexually Assaulted by Man on Bike in Shocking Evening Attack
Incident on Path Between Merton Lane North and Stuppington Lane
At around 6.20pm on Wednesday 4 May 2022, a woman was approached by a man on a path linking Merton Lane North and Stuppington Lane. The suspect made abusive comments before sexually assaulting her.
The attacker then fled the scene riding a bicycle—possibly an electric one.
Suspect Description and Police Appeal
The suspect is described as a white male, about 5ft 8in tall, in his early 20s. At the time, he wore a dark blue hooded jumper, black trousers, and a bandana covering part of his face.
Police are investigating and urgently want to hear from anyone in the area who saw suspicious behaviour. Dashcam or CCTV footage could prove vital.
Witness Search Focuses on Dog Walker
Officers are especially keen to speak to a man seen walking his dog nearby at the time of the assault.
