Blaze Hits Camden Shop and Flats – Firefighters Battle Fierce Flames

A fire ripped through a ground floor shop and a three-room flat above on Chalk Farm Road, Camden. Flames also damaged part of a nearby first-floor flat, sparking worry among residents.

Firefighters Tackle Intense Flames in Sweltering Conditions

Station Commander Brett Loft, at the scene, said: “Firefighters were working in extremely hot and arduous conditions to quickly put out the fire. There was a lot of smoke in the area, so residents were advised to keep their windows and doors shut. At this time, no injuries have been reported.”

High-Tech 999Eye Live Stream Helps Control Room Monitor Blaze

The London Fire Brigade’s Control Officers fielded 42 calls about the incident. Using 999Eye technology, they accessed live video streamed from a caller’s smartphone. This gave crews a real-time view of the blaze, improving situational awareness and helping direct resources efficiently.

Chalk Farm Road Shut as Firefighters Conquer the Flames

  • The fire started at 12.07pm and was extinguished by 1.56pm.
  • At least ten fire engines and around 70 firefighters from stations including Soho, West Hampstead, Paddington, and Kentish Town rushed to the scene.
  • The road is closed between Adelaide Road and Camden High Street while safety checks continue.

The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
