Jack Saunders Takes Over Radio 1’s Iconic Official Chart Show
Radio 1 fans, mark your calendars! On September 9th, Jack Saunders steps up to host the legendary Official Chart show, replacing Scott Mills who recently announced his exit.
From Student Radio to Chart King
Jack started out in student radio before joining Radio 1 in 2018. He quickly made a name with shows like Radio 1’s Future Artists and the Indie Show. He even fronted BBC’s Glastonbury 2022 coverage, proving his music credentials and earning a spot as a key tastemaker in the UK music scene.
Joining Radio 1’s Hall of Fame
Jack takes over the Official Chart slot once held by big names like Jameela Jamil, Clara Amfo, Greg James, and of course, Scott Mills. Each week, he’ll countdown the UK’s top 40 best-selling and most streamed singles – just in time for the Singles Chart’s 70th anniversary this November.
“I can’t believe my Radio 1 show has been added to the endless list of legends who have presented The Official Chart,” said Jack Saunders. “Taking over from an amazing broadcaster like Scott Mills is incredible. I can’t wait to get started and leave my mark.”
High Praise from Radio 1 Bosses and Industry Giants
Aled Haydn Jones, Head of BBC Radio 1, said, “Jack is a fantastic presenter who has proven hugely popular with our listeners. Fans of The Official Chart will love his infectious energy and passion for music, which he will bring to the show.”
Martin Talbot, Chief Executive of the Official Charts Company, added, “Jack is an ideal choice for radio’s most vibrant chart show. His meteoric rise at Radio 1 and standout appearance at Glastonbury 2022 make him the perfect fit. Scott will be hard to follow, but Jack’s talent promises an exciting new era as the Official Singles Chart hits its big 7-0.”
