Grandfather Fatally Stabbed in Broad Daylight – Killer Still on the Loose
At 4.06pm on Tuesday, August 16, tragedy struck Greenford when 87-year-old Thomas O’Halloran was brutally stabbed. Police were called to Runnymede Gardens near Cayton Road after reports of a man with stab wounds.
Officers arrived quickly and performed emergency first aid. London’s Ambulance and Air Ambulance services rushed to the scene, but despite their best efforts, Thomas was pronounced dead.
Chilling Escape Caught on Camera
Detectives revealed Thomas was attacked shortly before 4.06pm on Western Avenue. Despite his injuries, he managed to ride his mobility scooter about 75 yards to Runnymede Gardens, where he flagged down a passerby for help.
Investigators from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have now released CCTV images of a man seen fleeing the scene armed with a knife. He wore grey shorts, a dark T-shirt, a white baseball cap, and distinctive white patterned builder gloves.
“We are keen to identify the man in the CCTV images as soon as possible,” said Detective Chief Inspector Jim Eastwood, leading the hunt. “He is clearly dangerous. Please don’t approach him — call 999 immediately if you know who he is or where he might be.”
Community in Shock as Police Ramp Up Search
Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, overseeing policing in west London, expressed deep sympathy. “Thomas was a well-liked figure in our community, and this unprovoked attack has left us all shocked and horrified.”
“Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends. We ask for privacy during this difficult time,” he added.
Officers have been working non-stop for over 20 hours to crack the case. Additional patrols will be seen in the area to reassure residents and gather information.
“London remains one of the safest cities globally, but we need the public’s help to catch those responsible for violent crimes,” Wilson urged.
