12-Foot Masonry Block Crashes Down Inches Away From Baby Buggy

At around 9:35am, emergency services rushed to the scene where a huge 12-foot piece of masonry fell between two Victorian buildings at a busy junction. The falling stone missed a mother pushing her baby buggy by mere inches.

A shocked witness said, “We couldn’t tell if she was screaming in pain from the falling stone or from the shock. It could have been a disaster; it was a total freak accident.”

Victorian Pillar Collapses – Could Have Been Much Worse

The victim was lucky as a pillar from a 120-year-old building came loose and crashed to the ground.

The witness described it as, “Just an elongated pillar with a newel post at the top that’s separated from the mortar and brick. It could have been a lot worse.”

Injuries Not Life-Threatening, Victim Taken to Hospital

Paramedics treated one adult at the scene before taking them to a minor injuries unit. Police confirmed the injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

This terrifying near-miss serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by ageing buildings in London’s streets.
