Child Airlifted After Car Collision on Busy Surrey Road
An 11-year-old has been rushed to a major trauma centre after a serious crash on the A24 in Dorking. The smash happened around 1pm on Saturday, April 12, between the Cockerel Roundabout and North Holmwood Roundabout, close to the iconic Dorking Cockerel landmark.
Emergency services arrived swiftly, including an air ambulance, and the young victim was airlifted from the scene. Surrey Police confirmed the child’s injuries are severe but have not released further details.
A24 Shut For Hours, Drivers Urged to Avoid
The A24 was closed for most of Saturday afternoon and evening as police and emergency crews worked the scene. Significant traffic chaos followed as local motorists scrambled for alternative routes.
Surrey Police said:
“The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and has fully cooperated with our investigation. We are urgently seeking witnesses and any dashcam footage to understand the circumstances of the collision.”
