Memorial Plaque Stolen from Miners’ Wheel in Aylesham

A ceramic plaque near the Miners’ Wheel memorial in Aylesham’s Market Place was snatched between 6.30pm and 9pm on Monday 16 May.

Police Launch Investigation into Theft

Officers are probing the incident to see if any criminal offences took place. They’ve released a photo of the missing plaque and are appealing for help.

Callum Wheeler was recently convicted of murdering PCSO Julia James, who was killed while walking her dog near Aylesham in April 2021.

Dover District Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Carter said: “Local officers remain in the area as part of their ongoing work with the community. I would like to thank residents for their continued support and encourage anyone with information about the plaque to get in touch with us.”
