Victim Identified and Police Statement
Emergency services discovered Michelle Hanson inside the property, suffering injuries consistent with a stabbing. Northumbria Police confirmed her death is being treated as a murder.
“We are treating Michelle’s death as murder and a full investigation has been ongoing since her death. This is absolutely devastating for Michelle’s family and our thoughts remain with them at this awful time,” said a police spokesperson.
“We will offer them any support they need as they attempt to come to terms with the events of the last week. It has been understandably difficult for them and we ask that their privacy is respected by everyone.”
“Ever since the incident, we have been determined to locate those responsible and will seek justice for everyone involved. A significant number of enquiries have been carried out, and we thank the victim’s family and the public for their patience and cooperation.”
