Huge Cannabis Farm Found Hidden Under Homes in Wollaton

Officers uncovered around 600 cannabis plants after a dawn raid on two neighbouring homes in Ringwood Crescent, Wollaton, on Tuesday morning (20 December 2022).

Secret Grow Operation Dug Beneath Houses

The discovery was shocking – someone had dug underneath the semi-detached properties to create extra space for the illegal grow. Bricks were removed from the foundations, putting the structural integrity of both houses at serious risk.

A structural engineer was called in immediately, and repairs to the foundations are now underway. To make matters worse, the electrics had been dangerously bypassed, creating an additional hazard for residents and officers alike.

Two Men Arrested After Trying to Make a Run for It

During the raid, two men tried to flee the scene but were quickly caught by police. Bac Van Nguyen, 44, and Binh Quach, 24, both with no fixed address, have been charged with cannabis cultivation. They were remanded in custody and will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on 22 December 2022.

Police Urge Public to Keep Reporting Drug Crime

Inspector Peter Shaw said: “Acting on intelligence, officers uncovered a significant cannabis grow and the dangerous structural work underneath the homes.

This was extremely dangerous and a structural engineer is working with the landlord to fix the damage.”

“Operations like this are just part of Nottinghamshire Police’s ongoing fight against drug dealing in our communities,” he added.

“We rely on the public to keep reporting suspicious activity. The more information we get, the better we can protect our communities.”

If you have information about drug crime or other illegal activity, call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, or anonymously on 0800 555 111. In an emergency, dial 999.
