Daiana Anghel, 23, has been arrested after a daring jewellery theft spree at two UK stores last year. The Maidstone Victim Based Crime Team tracked her down to Luton during their investigation.
Fakes Swapped for Stolen Rings
Back on August 17, 2022, a woman tried on rings at a H Samuel store in Bluewater. When staff checked, they found three rings missing—two had been swapped with convincing fakes. The scam didn’t stop there.
Nearly £9,000 Ring Lifted in Maidstone
Just weeks later, on September 10, a pricey ring worth almost £9,000 vanished from Cornell and Sons in Maidstone. Again, the thief posed as a customer, concealing the valuable item.
Charged with Theft, Fraud, and Possessing Over 60 Fake Rings
Officers arrested Anghel at her Luton home on January 11, 2023. She now faces two counts of theft, one count of fraud, and possession of an article for fraud — more than 60 fake rings.
“She pleaded guilty at Luton Magistrates’ Court and has been granted conditional bail. Sentencing is set for February 23 at Luton Crown Court,” police confirmed.
