Man Jailed for Brutal Stabbing at Hamilton Central Station

A man has been locked up for five years after a shocking attack at Hamilton Central railway station.

Dominic Douglas, 33, from Hillside Crescent in Hamilton, was sentenced today at Livingston High Court. He admitted to stabbing a passenger, causing serious injury, permanent disfigurement, and putting the victim’s life at risk.

Unprovoked Attack After Train Journey

The horrifying incident happened on March 13, 2021, just moments after the victim and his partner got off the train. Douglas suddenly stabbed the victim in the chest and abdomen, leaving him with life-threatening wounds that required emergency surgery.

Douglas fled the scene but was tracked down by British Transport Police after a thorough investigation.

Police Praise Public and Investigators

“This was a brutal attack. Until that day, the two men had never spoken or crossed paths,” said Detective Chief Inspector Marc Francey. “The victim and his partner were clearly terrified, and the injuries have had a lasting impact on his life.”

“I want to thank the public for their help and the officers for their painstaking work, which helped us quickly identify and arrest Douglas. He is a clear danger to the public, and the judge has ensured he faces serious consequences.”
