Fire Breaks Out at Claremont Prep School Roof in St. Leonards-On-Sea
East Sussex Fire & Rescue Service rushed to a blaze in the roof of Claremont Preparatory School on Ebdens Hill, St. Leonards-On-Sea today. Six fire engines from Bohemia Road, The Ridge, Battle, Bexhill, and Herstmonceux are battling the flames.
Sussex Police are also on-site managing traffic amid the chaos.
A spokesperson for East Sussex Fire Service said: “At 12:26, we were called to reports of a fire in a roof on Ebdens Hill, Westfield. Please avoid the area. If you’re nearby, stay inside and close all windows and doors.”
Major Traffic Disruptions – Follow These Diversions
Southbound / Coastbound Drivers
- Take the B2089 Park Lane exit off the A21.
- Continue east to Cripps Corner, then onto the B2089.
- Turn right at Broad Oak junction with the A28.
- Follow the A28 towards Hastings and rejoin the A21 at Baldslow.
Northbound / Londonbound Drivers
- Exit the A21 at Baldslow and merge onto the A28.
- Continue on the A28 until it meets the B2089 at Broad Oak.
- Turn left and head west on the B2089 through Cripps Corner.
- Continue until you rejoin the A21.
Motorists are urged to follow these alternative routes and avoid the affected area to ease congestion and allow emergency services to work safely.
