Young Man Dies in Rotherham Crash, Murder Probe Launched
Rotherham police have launched a murder investigation after a 20-year-old man died in a shocking crash in Wickersley on Sunday, June 2. The fatal smash happened just after 4pm at the junction of Morthen Road and Moat Lane.
Two SUVs Crash, Passengers Flee Scene
The collision involved a silver Land Rover Discovery and a silver Subaru Forester. Both vehicles veered off the road in the crash. Emergency crews rushed to help, but the 20-year-old passenger in the Land Rover sadly died at the scene.
After the crash, the Subaru’s driver and three passengers fled on foot, abandoning the scene. Police later arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was released on bail as inquiries continue.

Detective Inspector Matt Bolger confirmed the case is now a murder investigation. Officers are working hard to piece together what happened.
“We ask the public to avoid speculation and respect the privacy of those involved,” said DI Bolger.
