The Isle of Wight Festival chaos has hit Newport hard—roads are gridlocked and it’s only Wednesday!
Festival Traffic Jam Hits Hard
Annual road closures at Sea Close and Fairlee Road are causing major delays. Drivers are crawling along bumper to bumper, barely moving around the racecourse roundabout and along Fairlee Road. The nightmare has already set in halfway through the week.
New Cut-Through Offers No Relief
This year, Godric Road was opened early to ease the madness. But even with this extra route, frustrated drivers are still stuck in standstill traffic. To make matters worse, 14 ice cream vans heading to the festival site got trapped in the jam, making things even more chaotic.
Cyclists and Police: The Only Ones Moving
The only folk getting anywhere quickly are cyclists weaving through the gridlock. Not even the police escape the mess—patrol cars are caught up in the snarl too. Festival traffic is already a nightmare, and it’s only just begun.
