Fire tears through Whitehorse Lane home

A devastating fire ripped through a terraced house on Whitehorse Lane, South Norwood, leaving half the ground floor and most of the first floor gutted. The blaze broke out early morning, sparking a major emergency response.

Three escape, but one succumbs to injuries

Three people managed to flee the burning building before firefighters arrived. Ambulance crews assessed them at the scene. One man was rushed to hospital but, tragically, he later died from his injuries.

Emergency services battle fierce flames

Firefighters sprang into action after being called at 7:54am. Around 25 firefighters from West Norwood, Woodside, and Norbury stations tackled the fire with four engines. The blaze was brought under control by 9:06am.
