New Free Tabloid Puts Wokingham on the Map
My Wokingham, a buzzing online news platform just a year old, is going print! Founded by local Nick Marr, the site has become a picture-packed celebration of Wokingham’s vibrant community.
Big Names Behind the New Paper
Nick Marr, a marketing whizz named an FT Tech Entrepreneur, is leading the charge. He’s teamed up with journalism pro Jacqueline Hayler, ex-deputy editor at Bracknell News and Henley Standard, ace photographer Paul King from Windsor Express, and Radio Berkshire’s Phil Gee. Popular sports snapper Andrew Batt also joins, making sure the paper stays truly local.
Print Still Holds Power in Wokingham
At live events, locals kept asking: “Where’s the print copy?” That sparked the idea for a free, 32-page tabloid newspaper, hitting doorsteps and supermarket shelves around the borough. Combining digital smarts with good old-fashioned print, it’s tailor-made to attract local businesses and readers alike.
From Charity Blog to Community Staple
My Wokingham started as a blog helping charities get noticed, then grew by covering events with short, punchy vids. Its first print sample launched in March, with the official coronation souvenir edition coming this May. The paper’s team all live and work in Wokingham, promising real local flavour and community spirit.
With the buzz around its digital success, the launch of My Wokingham’s print edition looks set to shake up the local news scene and bring Wokingham’s stories to life like never before.
