Woman Vanishes After Cry for Help – Partner Arrested for Murder

Madison, 30, disappeared last July after leaving her home in Delhi Road around 8.30am on Friday 22 July. She cleaned locally before visiting her partner, 37-year-old Garry Bennett, at his home on Caister Drive. She arrived shortly after 11am but was never seen again.

Disturbing Texts Reveal Troubled Relationship

Police uncovered texts from Madison to Bennett that morning, saying she was unhappy and that he was controlling. Despite these cries for help, Madison vanished. She was reported missing three days later on Monday 25 July. Investigators quickly feared the worst — Madison was no longer alive.

Bennett was arrested, claiming Madison told him she needed space and left his home between 11.15am and 11.30am. He said her car stayed outside his home until Sunday 24 July, before being moved. It was later found on Brackendale Avenue two days after.

Shocking Evidence Spells Trouble for Bennett

  • CCTV shows a man like Bennett near Brackendale Avenue at 4.50am – contradicting his version of events.
  • His DNA was found on a fence post placed atop Madison’s body, discovered on 30 July in Watt Tyler Country Park.
  • Forensic phone analysis revealed Bennett searched for info about the park and murder investigation.
  • Text messages supposedly from Madison were unlike her usual style, suggesting Bennett sent them.
  • In the hours after Madison’s death, Bennett logged into a dating site account.

Guilty Verdict and Justice for Madison

Bennett of Caister Drive, Pitsea, was charged with murder. After a trial at Basildon Crown Court, he was found guilty on Tuesday 28 March. Sentencing is due the next day, Wednesday 29 March.

“Our immediate thoughts go to Madison’s family and friends,” said Detective Inspector Kev Hughes. “Their dignity and strength throughout this terrible ordeal has been remarkable. No one should lose a loved one in the way Madison did. It has been humbling to help deliver the justice she deserved.”
